People go to the gym to sweat it out, so it would not be a surprise if these venues ended up honking by the end of the day. However, fitness suites do not typically stink of sweat or else they would quickly lose custom. So, how do gyms overcome the stench of body odor?

First of all, they invest in a lot ventilation. Not only does this keep fitness enthusiasts cool, but it allows air to continuously flow through the facility, helping to eradicate the smell of sweat.

They also have sealing surfaces to control moisture and employ cleaners to regularly wipe down equipment to stop the build-up of body fluids.

Thanks to the pandemic, gyms have encouraged users to use antibacterial spray on machines after exercising, which will also remove sweat and any subsequent smells.

Home Gym Hideaway recommends putting out boxes of baking soda on the gym floor, as this will “absorb a large amount of any odours that are present and your gym will smell sweeter for it”.

Gyms should check for the presence of mold every few months, as this carries its own distinctive unpleasant smell. As there is constant moisture in the air, this makes gyms a breeding ground for mold, so it needs to be discovered, and extracted, at the earliest opportunity.

While these tips will help remove unpleasant scents, you can also freshen the air with gym scent diffusion, which will keep locker rooms, changing spaces, and the gym floor smelling nice.

Something fresh like green apples or summer lilies is particularly effective.
